Alumni Voices: Brandon's Journey from Camper to Counselor (Post 10)

“I have so many memorable moments at Camp Shiloh but I’d have to say my most memorable moment would be my first year as a CIT. I just had a different level of thinking that summer and I had great minds and wisdom who’d share things with me, such as Steven, and Andrew and Brennan. They were just allowing me to realize that it is okay to not be okay, and how we all gotta start from the pure bottom and work into it. What we’re doing now has a big impact on my future. My experience at Shiloh has always been really important to me mainly because Shiloh is where I’d go once a year to get away, and be happy. Shiloh represents free spirit and positive energies that can little by little stick into you. It meant a lot to me to have a camper experience at Shiloh because I do believe staff members have a big impact on campers and for me they were always one of the reasons why I continued to return every year. And now I come to Shiloh as a staff member to try and be able to leave the smallest piece of change in one’s mindset or shift their anger or pain into peace and relief and joy.”-Brandon, Camper and Camp Staff Alumni
