“Eleven. Eleven is the number of summers I spent working at Camp Shiloh. 2022 also marked eleven years since I had been away from working at and with Shiloh. Even though over a decade had passed, Shiloh was never far from my heart or my mind. After all, I still wear my Shiloh shirts and hoodies all the time and interact with Shiloh staff members on a regular basis. Even after leaving the summer staff, my life has been Shiloh adjacent. At the end of last spring, my connection with Shiloh led me to an opportunity to once again be a part of the Shiloh team.
I spent this past summer running the RISE Scholarship application process. The RISE funds provide scholarship funds to young adults who have been involved with Shiloh so they can graduate with a little less debt. During this time of year when we think about gratitude and thankfulness, to be afforded the opportunity to reconnect with Shiloh's youth in a meaningful and impactful way is something to be grateful for. Talking to the applicants and hearing about how much Shiloh has impacted their lives and how they plan on taking the lessons learned into their futures was incredibly special. I definitely won't let another eleven years go by without being so close to Shiloh.”
