Alumni Voices: Brennan on his many years at Camp! (Post 3)

"I set foot on Shiloh property for the first time in 2012 as a volunteer. A member of the kitchen staff named Angela (current Hi Def Coordinator and Camp Director) informed me that I would be a counselor the next summer (I always emphasize that it was not a request). A plan for a fun chance to pad a grad school resume over a summer turned into 6 years that shaped my life. I will never forget the joy of campers singing and dancing to worship songs to start the day, the humbling experience of teaching a camper to pray, and just days later having them pray over me during a challenging day. The anarchy of Boy’s Swim. The collaboration of the boy campers to get a struggling friend voted as camper of the day. The pride of watching campers grow up, and choose to return to serve as CITs, as counselors, and leadership staff. The lifelong friendships with staff members built on cabin porches hoping (and often failing) to not to be caught out after curfew. Bringing my family and this year my fiancé to serve as volunteers and seeing all of them enjoy pouring love into this place, the kids, and the staff just as I have. Shiloh gave me a chance to watch hundreds of kids grow up, but it will also forever be the place where I did as well."-Brennan, Alumni Staff (6 years!) & Volunteer
