In loving memory of brother Wallace murray
A memorial service will be held
JANUARY 9TH, 11AM | Harlem Church of Christ
Brother Wallace 'Skipper' Murray was a torchbearer for Shiloh's ministry to children. He was the ultimate volunteer, recruiter, fundraiser, and board member. His daughter Phyllis recalls attending camp as a young child in the 60s, and then him recruiting her later in her high school and college years to fill out little slips to be mailed asking for donations on behalf of camp. "Skipper" made camp a priority in addition to his long service on the Board of Directors.
For years he would find willing volunteers to work on camp maintenance and building projects, whatever was needed. Upon retiring from the board he was named our first Chairman Emeritus. His heart was always with the kids and camp up until his last few years of failing health. He thankfully was able to join us for the long-awaited ribbon cutting ceremony for Shiloh's Celebration Center. The new kitchen and dining facility had been a dream of his for almost 15 years.
Brother Murray was a relentless camper and volunteer recruiter. He served as a knowledge bank for all "maintenance systems" at camp, always asking his community to donate. His efforts were tireless because his heart for sharing the message of God's love to any and every person who would listen was a priority. You would never hear anything but gentle words from this wise man. His humble, servant hearted, loving spirit will be missed.
