HEAD COUNSELOR:
Be the ultimate captain of the counseling squad! In this role, you’ll foster team spirit among counselors, supporting them as they mentor and inspire campers each day. You’ll also play a vital role in navigating conflict resolution and mediation, ensuring a positive and impactful camp experience for everyone. It’s a leadership adventure like no other!
General Responsibilities:
Take on a key role in shaping a positive and supportive camp environment! You'll handle important aspects of camper engagement, addressing conduct and conflict issues with care and professionalism. Collaborating with counseling and program staff, you'll ensure effective processes are in place to identify and resolve behavior concerns, helping campers grow and thrive while keeping camp life fun and rewarding for everyone. Qualifications and Certifications:
Step into a vital leadership role where you'll help create a safe, supportive, and faith-filled environment for campers and staff alike!
1. Adhere to Policies: Follow the policies outlined by New York State and Camp Shiloh, as well as updates from training or revisions, ensuring a safe and compliant camp environment.
2. Training & Meetings: Participate in all training and staff meetings, including pre-camp recruitment and planning during the Spring, to prepare for an incredible camp experience.
3. Staff Support: Regularly check in with staff, offering feedback, and encouragement, and serving as a calm, Christian role model for both staff and campers.
4. Daily Presence: Be actively involved in camp activities, from Celebration and boys’/girls’ activities to swim times, snacks, evening events, and cabin supervision until lights out. Support the Activities Director as needed.
5. Leadership & Faith: Lead staff Huddle Ups, Camper Huddle Downs, and facilitate daily Bible classes and Close Encounters. Participate in or lead staff devotionals as requested.
6. Supervise & Support: Arrive early to the Celebration Center during meals to supervise campers and assist with post-breakfast cleaning. Be available during rest times to support counselors and campers.
7. Behavior Management: Notify the Camp Director/Assistant Camp Director of campers at risk of dismissal and collaborate on next steps. Maintain written records of all behavior issues and report child abuse suspicions or disclosures immediately.

Specific Responsibilities:
1. Adhere to the policies set forth by New York State and Camp Shiloh as stated in the manual and materials given or revisions thereafter.
2. Attend all training and staff meetings as assigned.
3. Planning and coordination of weekly staff devotionals.
4. Notify Camp Directors of any campers who are subject to being dismissed from camp along with the supporting reasons. Work with Camp Directors should the issue progress further, requiring the camper to be sent home.
5. Immediately speak with the Camp Directors if child abuse is reported or suspected.
6. Maintain written documents on all discipline issues brought to the Head Counselor and submit copies to the Camp Director or Assistant Camp Director.
7. Arrive to the Celebration Center early for meal times to help supervise campers.
8. Assist with cleaning the Celebration Center after breakfast.
9. Lead staff Huddle Ups and Teach/facilitate daily Bible class and Close Encounters.
10. Be available during rest time to assist counselors and campers if needed.

STIPEND:
$350+ per week depending on experience. Meals, housing and transportation are provided.
