KITCHEN SUPPORT: GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
As a key member of the kitchen team, you'll take on all food-related tasks under the guidance of the Kitchen Manager and Kitchen Lead. While you won't be responsible for paperwork (though you can learn if you're interested!), you'll be hands-on in meal preparation, assisting with cooking, and leading kitchen clean-up efforts. This is a dynamic role where you'll contribute directly to ensuring that campers and staff receive delicious, well-prepared meals in a safe and organized kitchen environment.

Ratio: 1 Support for the camp season
Qualifications and Certifications:
Age Minimum: 18 years
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience (Preferred): Some experience in a kitchen or culinary environment, with a focus on food preparation, safety, and sanitation.
Skills: Proficiency in operating kitchen equipment safely and knowledge of Department of Health regulations and food safety standards
Certifications (Preferred): Food Safety Certification or similar culinary qualifications

Responsible to: Kitchen Manager
General Areas of Responsibilities (List not inclusive of all duties):
1. Food Preparation: Assist with prepping food to ensure that all meals are ready to serve on time.
2. Kitchen Cleaning: Maintain a clean and organized kitchen by washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, and ensuring the kitchen meets health and safety standards.
3. Inventory Support: Help manage food inventory, including stocking and organizing supplies to keep the kitchen running efficiently.
4. Food Safety: Follow health department and USDA safety standards when handling food, ensuring that meals are prepared and stored safely.
5. Food Allergy Management: Ensure proper handling and safety precautions for food allergies, creating a safe environment for all campers and staff.
6. Laundry Assistance: Wash and maintain kitchen linens and laundry as needed to keep the kitchen fully stocked.
7. Mentoring CITs: Encourage and train Counselors in Training (CITs) who are helping in the kitchen, offering guidance and support in their duties.
8. General Camp Support: Be flexible and assist in other areas of camp as needed, contributing to the overall success of the camp experience.

This role is essential in creating a safe, clean, and efficient kitchen environment while helping campers and staff stay nourished and supported throughout the camp experience!
Work Conditions:
Must have the physical ability to lead and participate in camp activities which include, but are not limited to, hiking, swimming, team building initiatives, building campfires, physical games, and activities.
Must be capable of carrying loads of up to 90 pounds and able to traverse hilly and uneven terrain without undue exertion.
Work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
Perform essential program support to camp activities and programs which may include, but not limited to the following activities: semi – reaching to full-reach overhead, crouching, kneeling, shoveling, working in narrow and/or confining spaces underground, overhead, and at ground level, twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs, and lying on stomach and/or back.
Must have the ability to physically manage and support children when needed for safety in general camp activities (child weighing 50 - 200 pounds).
Ability to perform a variety of tasks outdoors in different climates.
STIPEND: $225+ per week depending on experience. Meals, housing and transportation are provided.
